Africentials, the term, is a combination of the terms Africa, African, African centered, and essential. Africentials are the essential (or necessary) items that members of the African Diaspora should have, do, or see to make positive impacts within themselves and their communities. Those essentials include but are not limited to:

  • Africentric knowledge base
  • African centered traditions
  • Selfethnic reflectors
  • Knowledge of history
  • Understanding of oppression/racism
  • Selfethnic responsibility and commitment

To this end, Africentials is a community based enterprise deeply rooted for living, for learning, for life that is committed to the education of both children and adults utilizing African Centered methodologies (history, culture, racial identity development etc.). We wish to ensure that people of African descent are able to compete and thrive in modern society, armed with access and understanding of today’s global knowledge base regardless of its origins, to move self, family and community into the 21st century as agents and actors in their futures.
